The legend of Saint George tells of a dragon that had the people of Montblanc living in fear and demanded to be fed. When there were no more animals left in the village, it was decided that a villager, chosen by lot, would be sacrificed to feed the dragon. Until one day, it was the princess’s turn.
On that day, the knight Sant Jordi appeared in the village and fought the dragon to save the princess. Sant Jordi killed the dragon and a rose sprang from its blood, which was given to the princess.
