From 15 to 24 September
The festival dates back to the 14th century with the arrival of the Relic of Santa Tecla to Tarragona. During weeks the city celebrates one of the most emblematic local festivities in Catalonia.
Among the most representative celebrations we find:
Tuesday 15 September:
- 7.00 pm, Plaça de la Font: La Crida. Opening ceremony led by the mayor. Followed by the Toc de Crida i Tronada, which marks the start of the festivities.
- 9.00 pm, various locations across Tarragona: The Voladores de Santa Tecla announce the start of the festival throughout the city
- 10.00 pm, Plaça de la Font: Parish festival dance with the Esbart Dansaire de Tarragona
- 10.30 pm, Chapel of Santa Tecla: Concert by the Cobla de Ministrers of the Municipal Council of the City of Tarragona
Wednesday 16 September:
- 6.00 pm and 7.00 pm, junction of Carrer del Trinquet Vell and the Pescatería neighbourhood. Dramatised monologue: Freixa, water management in medieval Tarragona in 1383
- 8.30 pm: Gardens of the Casa de la Fiesta, Casa del Jardín. Concert featuring Oscárbolas and guests.
- 9.30 pm: El Almacén Theatre, 14 Reding Street. Theatre: Conteclada, directed by Joan Reverté and Agus Farré
Thursday 17 September:
- 7.00 pm Tarragona Provincial Council Auditorium, 2 Pere Martell Street Theatre: Max in Love – Respétame.
- 7.30 pm from Plaça de la Font: Traditional Fire Parade of the Dragon of Sant Roc. The dragon celebrates six centuries of existence at the Tarragona city festivities. In Plaça de les Cols, there will be a performance of the legend of Sant Jordi, in collaboration with the Esbart Dansaire de Tarragona.
- 8.00 pm Gardens of the Casa de la Fiesta, Casa del Jardín. An evening of popular comedy: Teclate de risa.
- 9.00 pm Cathedral. Concert by the Rovira i Virgili University Choir: 150th anniversary of the birth of Pau Casals
- 9.30 pm: El Almacén Theatre, 14 Reding Street. Theatre: Conteclada, directed by Joan Reverté and Agus Farré
Friday 18 September:
- 6.30 pm from Pla de la Seu: La Baixadeta de l’Aligueta, la Mulasseta, el Lleonet, the Little Moorish Giants, the Little Black Giants, the Little Old Giants and la Cucafereta.

- 5.00 pm Plaça de les Cols: Opening verses and speeches for the dances. Dances of En Serrallonga Petit and the Pastorets Petits
- From 17:00 to 01:00 hrs Pl. de l’Antic Escorxador and Pl. de la Rumba Bloc Fest. Various artistic expressions, such as music, dance and graffiti, as well as social spaces including street food stalls and arts and crafts markets.
- 5.00 pm Plaça de la Font: Procession of Santa Tecla Pequeña

- 5.30 pm, Francolí Park. Family concert with Xiula and Reggae per Xics
- 7.30 pm From the Balcón del Mediterráneo to Els Despullats: ‘Pasacalles de Bestias’ (Children’s Parade).

- 10.30 pm, Cathedral. The Santa Tecla Altarpiece. Performed by the Santa Tecla Ensemble with musical accompaniment by the La Principal de la Bisbal choir.
Monday 21 September:
- 5.30 pm from Plaza de la Font: ‘La Despertada de los Gigantes’ parade. Arrival of all the giants in front of the Town Hall.
- 6.30 pm Plaza de la Font: The Santa Tecla proclamation. Followed by Amparito Roca’s song, which heralds the arrival of the Giants
- Midnight from the Pla de la Seu: The descent of L’Àliga, the Old Giants, the Lion, La Mulassa and the bands.
- 2.30 am at the Plaza de la Font: Arrival of L’Àliga, the Old Giants, the Lion and La Mulassa, and the start of the Dance of the Year.
Tuesday 22 September:
- 12.00 hrs: cathedral bell tower. Bell ringing to mark the start of the town festival
- 12.00 hrs: Portal del Roser. Arrival of the ‘Grallers’ musicians and parade to the Plaça de les Cols. Followed by a concert by Vermut Yzaguirre with La Fanfara de Torredembarra
- 5.30 pm Rambla Nova. Versots and speeches for the dances. The Dances of Serrallonga, the Shepherd Boys and the Gitanes
- 7.00 pm from the Plaza de la Font: Santa Tecla parade
- Performance of the Ladies’ and Elders’ Dance

- 1.00 pm, Plaça de la Font: ‘’Diada castellera de Santa Tecla’’ (human towers).
- 6.15 pm, Plaça de la Font: Parade of all festive elements.
- 7.00 pm, Plaça de la Seu: Procession of the relic of Saint Tecla.
- 11.00 pm from Punta del Miracle: Fireworks display.
- Midnight, Plaça del Rei: “Gralles” dance.
Thursday 24 September:
- 8.00 am: From the Plaça de la Font: ‘Toc de Matinades’ (morning fanfare), through various streets of the city.
- 1.00 pm, Plaça de les Cols: ‘Castells’ and ‘Pilars caminants’ (human towers) from the Cathedral to the Plaça de la Font with Xiquets de Tarragona, Colla Jove Xiquets de Tarragona, Xiquets del Serrallo and Colla Castellera Sant Pere i Sant Pau
- 10.00 pm from the Mitja Lluna Square: ‘’Correfoc’’ de Santa Tecla (fire show).
Every evening from 18:00 hrs in Plaça Verdaguer: Teclatapa, where you can taste ‘’tapas’’ from the different entities of the city.
