It is an example of Modernist industrial architecture, set against the backdrop of the wine sector\u2019s recovery following the crisis caused by phylloxera. Although it was established in 1905, it was not officially opened until 1910. At the time of its construction, it was the largest of its kind in the country and boasted the most modern technology and facilities.<\/p><p>Today, part of the complex is linked to the <a href=\"https:\/\/incavi.gencat.cat\/ca\/inici\"><strong>Catalan Institute of Vine and Wine (INCAVI<\/strong><\/a>), whilst another part of the buildings houses the Baix Camp Regional Council. It is a meeting place with numerous caf\u00e9 terraces and shops, and is also home to some of the city\u2019s most iconic buildings, such as the Town Hall, Casa Nav\u00e0s and the Gaud\u00ed Centre. It was designed by the Catalan architect <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Llu\u00eds_Dom\u00e8nech_i_Montaner\">Llu\u00eds Dom\u00e8nech i Montane<\/a>r and built between 1901 and 1908, commissioned by its owners, Joaquim Nav\u00e0s Padr\u00f3 and Josepa Blasco Roura. It is situated on a corner between Pla\u00e7a Mercadal and Carrer de Jes\u00fas, next to Carrer Major.<\/p><p>Casa Nav\u00e0s is exceptional because it retains much of its original decoration and features from the Modernist period.
